One person in charge, start to finish
Most kitchen and bathroom jobs go wrong in the gaps between trades. The fitter is waiting on the plumber, the plumber is waiting on the electrician, and you’re the one making the calls.
With MCM there’s one person running the lot. Mike designs the room with you, orders everything, builds it and signs it off. Registered electricians and Gas Safe engineers come in where the work needs them, on his programme, not yours to chase. And because we’re builders as well as fitters, moving a wall or putting up the extension the kitchen goes into isn’t a separate job with a separate firm.

How a project runs
The same four stages for a cloakroom or a two-storey extension. What changes is how long each one takes.
Design
Mike comes out, measures up and listens. You get drawings and a written quote, and we refine it until it’s right.
Plan
Orders placed, lead times booked, and anything that needs Building Control or the council sorted before a tile comes off the wall.
Build
Strip-out, first fix, plastering, fitting and second fix, in the right order and on a programme you can see.
Complete
Snagging done before we call it finished. Certificates, guarantees and a clean room handed back.

Working from Lindfield
We keep our patch tight, about fifteen miles, so we’re never far away when the plumber needs a decision or the stone fabricator arrives early.

07488 298582Do you only do kitchens and bathrooms?
They’re most of what we do, but MCM is a building firm first. We build the extensions kitchens go into, take out load-bearing walls with steels signed off by Building Control, make fitted joinery and take on whole-house renovations. If a job needs several trades, we run all of it.
Do I need Building Regulations approval for a new kitchen or bathroom?
A like-for-like refit usually doesn’t. It does once you add a new electrical circuit, move drainage, take out a load-bearing wall or build a new en-suite. Electrical work in a bathroom is always notifiable. We’ll tell you on the first visit which applies to your job, and we handle the paperwork.
Can I buy the kitchen myself?
You can, but most of our kitchens come from Howdens, which only sells through the trade. That suits most people. We design it with you, order it, fit it and deal with any snags, so there’s one person responsible for the whole thing rather than a supplier and a fitter blaming each other.
How far do you travel?
We’re based in Lindfield and work within about 15 miles of Lindfield: Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Newick, Ditchling, Lewes, East Grinstead and Horsham, plus the villages in between. If you’re just outside that, ask anyway.
How does pricing work?
Every job is priced after Mike has been out to see it. You get a written quote that says what’s included and what isn’t, so you can compare it properly. No guesswork prices over the phone, because they’re never right.
Are you insured?
Yes. MCM carries £1m public liability insurance. Electrical and gas work is carried out by registered trades, and you get their certificates at the end along with any Building Control completion certificate your job needs.
